49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk hasn’t had the chance to show off his speed on the football field this season due to a knee injury that’s kept him sidelined. However, he has caught the attention of police in Santa Clara after posting a video of himself demolishing the speed limit while driving by his team’s stadium.

Brandon Aiyuk has spent the entirety of his NFL career with the 49ers since he was selected by San Francisco with the 25th overall pick in 2020. The Arizona State product may not be a superstar, but he gradually improved over the course of his first few seasons before recording a career-high 1,342 receiving yards in 2023.

That performance was enough to earn a four-year, $120 million extension from the franchise ahead of the 2024 season, but the campaign was unfortunately cut short when he tore the MCL, ACL, and meniscus in his right knee in a showdown with the Chiefs last October.

Those injuries were severe enough to sideline him for the entirety of the current season so far, but he’s still able to apply plenty of pressure to the gas pedal of his car based on a video that’s landed him in hot water.

Police are looking into a video of Brandon Aiyuk speeding at over 100 MPH near Levi’s Stadium

Aiyuk was slated to earn around $27 million this season despite being unable to play. However, his unwillingness to work with the team to rehab the aforementioned injuries led to the 49ers voiding the payday that would have otherwise been guaranteed prior to the start of the season.

There was a fair amount of evidence to suggest there were tensions between the two sides before that decision was made, and while he did pop up at some practices over the summer, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan recently said he’s basically disappeared while noting he hadn’t seen the wideout in over a month.

However, it appears Aiyuk was in the vicinity of Levi’s Stadium at some point in the not-so-distant past based on a video he uploaded to his YouTube channel on Saturday where he showed off the capabilities of his Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, which hit a peak speed of 104 MPH as it flew by the venue.

The road he was driving on has a posted speed limit of 40 MPH, and according to TMZ, the Santa Clara Police Department could decide to take some action after it was made aware of that unforced error, telling the outlet, “At this point, the video is being reviewed, and further details can be provided when available.”

Aiyuk could theoretically return to play for the 49ers this season, but all signs point to him declining to suit up even if he’s cleared to come back from his injuries.
