Raiders wide receiver Hunter Renfrow seems happy about the changes in coaching staff away from Josh McDaniels, saying that he feels like he can finally enjoy football again.

Renfrow, who was a Pro Bowl level receiver before the McDaniels era, had a major drop in production during McDaniels’ tenure. However, with McDaniels being fired earlier this week, maybe things can finally turned back around for him.

Renfrow’s numbers took a hit under McDaniels‘ coaching, with his receptions dropping from 103 in 2021 to only 36 in 2022, and even worse, 10 catches for 92 yards in 8 games so far this season. Now, with new interim coach Antonio Pierce taking over, Renfrow believes there’s a different energy surrounding the team.

Renfrow said, “Just have fun playing football again and not just walk on eggshells everywhere. Just go out there and enjoy playing like we’re kids,”

Renfrow added on new interim coach Antonio Pierce: “I think with AP, being a player and just having a different energy is just different.”

There were reports about possible trades involving Renfrow before the trade deadline, but he remains with the Raiders, which could end up being a really good thing for both sides.

Under a new offensive coordinator, Renfrow could possibly go back to his previous form.
