Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis is showing that he doesn’t let money dictate his moves in the franchise.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the recent firings of head coach Josh McDaniels, general manager Dave Ziegler, and some of the coaching staff will set Davis back nearly $85 million.

While some of those costs might be offset or mitigated but it was still “an expensive move.” per the report. For Davis, it seems the priority is building a winning team, regardless of the financial hit.

After a 26-14 loss to the Lions on Monday night prior to the firings, Davis personally apologized to a group of Raiders players for “wasting their season.”. Davis also confided in a small circle within the organization that it was time for a change.

And that change has come. McDaniels, who struggled, losing 16 of his 25 games with the Raiders, during his tenure, has been let go.

Now, the Raiders are embarking on a new era, at least for the remainder of the season, under interim head coach Antonio Pierce. If nothing else, Pierce’s press conferences promise to bring a bit of humor to the mix.
