Former 49ers, Steelers cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon has found a new home in the City of Angels, signing with the Los Angeles Rams, as reported by The Score’s Jordan Schultz.

The Steelers released Witherspoon after drafting rookies Joey Porter Jr. and Cory Trice in the 2023 NFL Draft and signed former All-Pro Patrick Peterson in free-agency

At 28 years old, Witherspoon brings a decent amount of experience to the Rams’ secondary. During his time with the Steelers, he played in 13 games, tallying 35 tackles, 11 passes defended and four interceptions.

Overall, Witherspoon played in 60 career games, recording eight interceptions and 35 passes defended, which will undoubtedly be valuable as he enters the 2023 season with his new team.

Last season, Witherspoon struggled with hamstring issues that limited him to just four games. However, as he embarks on his age-28 campaign, he still presents an intriguing option for the Rams. While he may be viewed primarily as a depth player at this stage of his career, his experience could prove to be an asset for the team.

Joining the Rams’ secondary, Witherspoon will have the opportunity to contribute to a team known for its defensive prowess. The Rams, led by head coach Sean McVay and defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, have established a reputation for fielding solid defensive units.

With Witherspoon’s skills and experience, he could become an important depth piece of the Rams’ defensive puzzle.

As the 2023 NFL season approaches, fans will eagerly watch to see how Ahkello Witherspoon integrates into the Rams’ defense and if he can regain his form from previous seasons.

If he can stay healthy and perform at a high level, the Rams may have found themselves a valuable asset in their quest for a successful season.
