Rory MacDonald has faced legendary MMA fighters throughout his career and was once considered one of the top welterweights in the world when he was in the UFC but Ray Cooper III doesn’t care about any of that.
Cooper and MacDonald face off on Friday’s PFL welterweight playoff semifinal which is set to take place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL, and will air ESPN2.
On Wednesday, Cooper told the media that he feels confident that he can beat MacDonald despite his opponent’s pedigree.
“I just think I’m the best and I believe in my abilities and believe in my skills and I believe that I can beat anybody and he’s no different.”
The Hawaiian MMA fighter is unfazed about MacDonald’s reputation inside the cage and just sees him as another obstacle on his way to a title fight.
“It’s just another fight, he’s just in my way to getting to another title match and that’s all I’m thinking about. He’s just another fighter.”
You can catch Ray Cooper III vs Rory MacDonald at PFL 7 on Wednesday at 9pm on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
