Rebecca Lobo, who as her broadcasting partner Ryan Ruocco constantly reminds everyone, is a Hall of Famer as a basketball player… just not to the people of Albany.

Why? Because Monday night during the broadcast of Iowa vs. LSU on ESPN Lobo absolutely annihilated the game’s host city of Albany, New York.

With the Elite 8 tilt winding down and Iowa firmly in the lead, Ruocco told a story about how Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark didn’t want to be bothered going out with her family before the game.

“She told us they’ve been reaching out to me and I’ve told them ‘just go find something to do in Albany, I’m staying in my room and just waiting for the game,'” he said.

“By the way, good luck finding something to do in Albany,” Rebecca Lobo added with a big laugh, completely annihilating the state capital of New York.

Naturally, some key Albany residents didn’t take too kindly to Lobo’s negative portrayal of their city.

“There’s plenty to do if you take the time to look — some of the nation’s oldest museums, a stately Capitol, award-winning restaurants, and a basketball game or two downtown,” Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan replied to a clip of Lobo’s diss on X (Twitter). “@RebeccaLobo, let’s take a ride before you leave town. Happy to show you all there is to see and do.”

“There are plenty of things to do in Albany @RebeccaLobo!” Discover Albany also fired back. “Check out our website and events calendar for more: https://albany.org/things-to-do/.”

Rebecca Lobo, who probably knew the moment she made her Albany comment that it was going to come back and bite her, saw their social media comments and replied back trying to make amends.

“I’ve spent many fun-filled weekends in the Albany area over the years coaching my kids’ AAU teams,” Lobo wrote on X. “No shade intended towards the capital city and the outstanding job they did hosting the regional.”

Really, Rebecca? No shade intended? That’s pretty funny. How exactly can that comment not be construed as anything but a massive amount of shade?

For the record, as Discover Albany pointed out with their link, there is shopping at the Crossgates Mall, attractions like the New York State Capitol, an arts and entertainment scene, outdoor adventures, tours, nightlife, annual events and festivals, live music, sports teams, and a rich history of the city to discover.

But yeah…
