Benches cleared on Wednesday during an afternoon baseball game between the Rockies and Red Sox. At the center of the chaos were pitcher Cal Quantrill and catcher Reese McGuire.

After inducing an inning-ending fly out, Quantrill had words with McGuire while walking back to the dugout. He appeared to reference a disturbing incident from the catcher’s past, sparking all-out mayhem.

Colorado hosted Boston in interleague play this week with Game 3 deciding the series. Amid the action, complete bedlam broke out.

In the fourth inning, Reese McGuire stepped to the dish with his team down 8-2. He flied out to centerfield before getting into a heated argument with pitcher Cal Quantrill.

Disorder ensued.

Benches cleared before the players were separated. Those watching along immediately identified the act that sparked the exchange.

Lip readers deciphered the message shouted from Quantrill to McGuire, coming to the conclusion that the pitcher referenced a disturbing incident from the catcher’s past.

A quick Google search of ‘Reese McGuire parking lot’ should take you to the desired result, which ended with his arrest in 2020.

McGuire didn’t take kindly to the remark, and quickly responded with words of his own.

Eventually, the two teams were sent back to their respective dugouts, allowing the game to continue. Things would get worse before they got better for the Red Sox, who watched the Rockies put 20 runs on the board to take the series.
