Anthony Edwards has been on the receiving end of a ton of praise courtesy of his unreal performance in the NBA playoffs this year, and Reggie Miller became the latest notable name to give him props while appearing to throw some shade at LeBron James in the process.

You know you’re doing something right as a basketball player when people start to compare you to Michael Jordan, and while Anthony Edwards has pushed back against pundits who’ve started to suggest he’s on the same level, there’s only so much he can do to shut down those conversations.

Edwards has emerged as the undisputed standout of the NBA postseason so far by averaging over 32 points per game in addition to 5.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists. The 22-year-old has been an invaluable weapon for the Timberwolves during their ongoing playoff run, and he drew praise for shouldering the blame after they were blown out by the Nuggets in Game 3.

On Sunday, Denver secured its second consecutive victory to even up its second-round series with Minnesota at two games apiece. Reggie Miller was sitting courtside during the contest while covering the game for TNT, and during the first quarter, he referenced Edward’s aforementioned comments while seemingly taking aim at LeBron James.

Miller praised Edwards before turning his attention to “certain guys with veteran status in our game that are on a lot of people’s Mount Rushmore that like to deflect and point fingers at others.” He may not have mentioned anyone by name, but it doesn’t take a genius to connect the dots and determine that comment was aimed at LeBron.

Miller’s decision go after LeBron is a fairly curious one when you consider it would be a stretch to suggest James is known for going out of his way to deflect responsibility and place the blame on other people—at least publicly. There are obviously plenty of reports concerning rumors of friction with coaches and teammates, but it’s not like the superstar is routinely sitting down at press conferences to point fingers.

With that said, LeBron is known for firing some cryptic shots at his critics, and it feels like it’s only a matter of time before Reggie ends up on the receiving end of one.
