A new documentary about what the U.S. government really knows about UFOs called The Age of Disclosure has been causing a lot of buzz ever since it premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March. Now, finally, we know when it will be released.
The initial trailer for The Age of Disclosure set what is believed to be a record for cross-platform views for a documentary at 22 million. The reason for that is because the film includes interviews with 34 current and former high-ranking members of the U.S. government, military and intelligence communities, all with direct knowledge of unidentified aerial phenomena, or UAPs, as the government now calls UFOs.
“Like countless people around the world, I’ve always been fascinated by the question of whether or not humanity is the only intelligent life in the universe and if the government knows the answer to that question but has kept it from the public,” the film’s director Dan Farah told People in a statement. “I had to make this film in secrecy and faced numerous hurdles because there are people who would prefer that this film not exist. I could not be prouder for the world to see it.”
Farah says the documentary took three years of working in secret. The film, according to a press release, “is unprecedented in terms of its access, credibility, and the information it reveals.”
“My goal was to only interview people who had direct knowledge of the UAP topic as a result of their work for the U.S. government, and who would share what they can legally disclose,” Farah told The Hollywood Reporter in March. “There are people who want the topic to continue to be kept from the public entirely. So I went to great lengths to make this documentary in secret over the last two-and-a-half years … there are these fundamental facts — like that we’re not alone in the universe — that everyone feels like the public has the right to know, and it’s also in our best interest to make known so that there’s no longer this antiquated, unjust stigma that is making our country fall behind in how seriously this topic is taken.”
The Age of Disclosure will be released in theaters in New York City, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. on Nov. 21. It will also become available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video that same day.
