Jim Ross, one of the greatest commentators in the history of professional wrestling, is beloved by many wrestling fans. Recently, the 73-year-old Ross revealed that he was diagnosed with colon cancer and that he is undergoing treatment.
Last week, Ross shared that surgery for the cancer was a success and that he was now undergoing rehabilitation. The announcement was met with an outpouring of support from many in the wrestling community… except for Ric Flair. Instead, Ric Flair made a derogatory comment about the former WWE and WCW commentator and current AEW broadcaster.
“Jim Ross Will Always Be Jim Ross, Seeking Attention. Focus On Your Recovery @JRsBBQ!” Ric Flair wrote in a since-deleted post on X (Twitter).

Ric Flair was immediately met with a overwhelming amount of backlash from fans for being so flippant about Jim Ross having such a serious health issue. One such comment pointed the finger right back at Flair, reading, “Yeah sure, he’s the one seeking attention.”
Flair would eventually delete the post, but came right back with another one that also didn’t sit very well with many wrestling fans.
“If You Can’t Take A Joke From A 76 Year Old Man, Then You Are Living Life Too Seriously. It Was All Harmless, Lighthearted Fun! Just Trying To Make People Laugh & Smile!” Flair wrote on X.
It may have been just a joke, but many fans found it difficult to believe since Ric Flair essentially said the same thing about Jim Ross during his podcast in 2022. ““All he is starving for… is to be relevant,” Flair said.
Ric Flair would later write yet another post on X about Jim Ross and the comments he made previously. That one read, “I Just Made It Clear To The World In An Article Coming Out On Sports Illustrated By Justin Barasso, That Jim Ross @JRsBBQ Was On My Mount Rushmore Along With Gordon Solie, Gene Okerlund & Jerry Lawler. That’s High Praise Because It Was Very Difficult For Me To Leave Out Tony Schiavone. But Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler Were The Greatest Tandem Ever! Nobody Should Be Upset Because Two People Have A Difference In Opinion. It Happens In Life! I Lost A Son, He Lost A Beautiful Wife. We Have A Lot In Common. We Were Both Considered The Best At What We Do. Let’s Leave It Alone At That And All The Haters Can Focus On Someone Else Now.”
Sorry about the ALL CAPS.
