Resurfaced Clip Of F1 Driver Riccardo Patrese Driving His Wife In A Honda Civic SI Reminds Me Of How Good YouTube Used To Be

I don’t know why I’m feeling in the ‘throwback’ mood today but I came across this clip this morning on the Group Chat™ and felt the need to share it with you gentlemen. In this borderline ancient YouTube clip from 2008, former Formula 1 and Italian racing legend Riccardo Patrese drives his wife around on the track and she loses her mind as he whips around in a Honda Civic SI.

This reminds me of just a few years back when YouTube was a place where I could find some entertaining viral videos alongside something so outrageous I wish I could bleach my eyes but those days have changed. Now if you go to the ‘Trending’ tab on YouTube you’ll find nothing but new music releases alongside YouTube celebrities streaming their lives which is addictive for sure but I miss the days when I could spend 15 minutes on YouTube and see the day’s best videos instead of having to watch a 36-minute clip and become deeply invested in someone’s life to even understand why a video is trending.

Viral videos like this don’t seem to exist anymore, not like they once did. That’s fine. The world has changed. But I thought today would be a perfect time to go back and watch this clip of the most Italian woman you’ve ever seen in your life lose her mind as her husband whips a Honda Civic around the track. By the way, this video’s in Italian but it has subtitles and there is some profanity but if you don’t speak Italian it shouldn’t be a problem.

Watching that clip made my day better and I can’t really articulate why but that’s fine. Some clips are just good. Let’s leave it at that.

And to revisit my point above really quick, if I could sort the ‘Trending’ tab by ‘under 7 minutes’ I think I’d enjoy YouTube immensely more. I hate how the new benchmark for YouTube videos from channels with millions and millions of subscribers is 20+ minutes because I simply never have time to watch anything that long these days.
