Robby Anderson has been very vocal about his team this offseason. First, he made it abundantly clear that he did not want Baker Mayfield to be the quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. Then, he came out in support of Colin Kaepernick joining the team.

Now, he has posted a tweet that could indicate he doesn’t feel great about his team’s current quarterback situation. Today, Anderson posted a tweet, which he has since deleted, saying that he’s thinking about retiring and you have to wonder if it’s just because he’s sick of catching passes from Sam Darnold.

There can’t be many better reasons to want to retire from football than spending nearly an entire career with Sam Darnold throwing you the football. Darnold has never lived up to the expectations that came with being drafted 3rd overall and isn’t expected to be an NFL starter beyond this season.

Still, Anderson has done a surprisingly good job of making things work with Darnold. He has had Darnold throwing him the football during 3 of Darnold’s 4 NFL seasons and in those years, has posted 2050 yards and 16 touchdowns.

It seems that might not be even for him to want to continue playing football.

There could at least be a light at the end of the tunnel for Anderson if he decides not to retire. There’s no way Darnold will be the team’s quarterback beyond this season and could even be replaced by Matt Corral during the season.

The Panthers will also have hope that Corral could develop into a quarterback Anderson can trust.

For now, the Panthers will just have to hope they can convince Anderson to continue playing football.
