Did Ronda Rousey Get Her Ass Kicked Because Of The Madden Curse?

Life was perfect for Ronda Rousey. She was widely regarded as the most dominant female athlete in the world and for good reason since she was 12-0 and she easily disposed of all of her opponents in commanding fashion. On Friday, it was revealed that Rousey would be on the cover for EA Sports UFC 2 video game. “EA Sports is a cultural barometer to know what’s going on in sports at the moment,” said Rousey. “As a gamer myself, it’s pretty surreal to be on the cover of the game and to have a woman on the cover of a UFC game shows a lot of progress. I’m really happy to be involved with it.”

However, a mere 24 hours later Rousey’s perfect existence came crashing down thanks to a devastating Holly Holm kick. Rousey was embarrassed by Holm and was knocked out in the second round of UFC 193.

Some would say that they that the infamous Madden Curse is spreading to other Electronic Arts sports games. The eerie coincidences of NFL players appearing on the cover of Madden and then suffering horrific injuries or completely losing their skills and going down the shitter has been well documented.

1999 – Garrison Heart – Broke his ankle and was out for two seasons.
2000 – Barry Sanders – Abruptly retired before training camp.
2002 – Daunte Culpepper – Threw 23 interceptions as Vikings went 5-11. Blew out both knees in 2005 and 2006.
2004 – Michael Vick – Five days after Madden NFL 2004 was released, Vick fractured right fibula. Things got doggone worse from there.
2006 – Donovan McNabb – Tore ACL and meniscus.
2008 – Vince Young – The following year he lost his starting job.
2012 – Peyton Hillis – Remember that guy?

The EA Curse strikes again!
