Not only did Rutgers suffer an embarrassing loss, but they also had to pay UMass a ton of money.

On Thursday night, Rutgers were huge 29.5-point favorites against UMass at home.

Unfortunately, Rutgers went on to lose in stunning fashion, 37-21.

Even Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano was stunned by the loss.

“Never saw it coming,” Schiano said. “I’ve been doing this a long time. Never saw it coming.”

“I wanna congratulate UMass and coach Harasymiak, his staff and players. They out coached us, they out-coached me, they out-played our players. We got licked tonight. There’s no other thing to say about it.”

Rutgers actually paid UMass $1.55 million to play them at home in New Jersey.
