Ryan Lochte reportedly had bigger problems on his hands in Rio than just shitty accommodations and roach-filled quarters.
The 12-time Gold medalist was allegedly held up at gunpoint and robbed during a party in Rio he attended with Brazilian swimmer Thiago Pereira and three of his American teammates, according to Lochte’s mother.
Via USA Today,
leana Lochte confirmed a report that Lochte was robbed. She said he was unharmed.
“I think they’re all shaken up. There were a few of them,” Ileana Lochte said. “No, they were just, they just took their wallets and basically that was it.”

Lochte called his mother Ileana immediately afterwards. She told @FOXSportsNews it was "terrifying" and has just left her hotel to meet him.

The plot thickens as IOC spokesman Mark Adams said reports of Lochte being held up at gunpoint was “absolutely not true,” which was rebuked by Fox’s Ben Way.
For those asking…
All I can tell you is what Ryan's mother told me. And others, it would seem. I believe her 100% https://t.co/y5RxakZtVF— Ben Way (@BenWayAUS) August 14, 2016
I choose to believe momma. I was raised that way. Also, when you consider that Rio has very high crime rates–Brazil as a country ranks in the top 20 in the world in homicide rates–it’s not a stretch to believe this went down. More importantly, Lochte’s white hair was likely infuriating to anyone without American citizenship. Just connecting the dots.
UPDATE: New reports indicate that Lochte was robbed after the party in Rio. Kinda shady how the IOC is vehemently denying this ever happened.
