Ryan Wingo will be able to see much better during his sophomore season of college football at Texas. He recently underwent surgery to correct a vision problem that caused him trouble a year ago.
LASIK could prove to be the difference for the Longhorns in 2025!
Wingo, a five-star prospect in the college football recruiting Class of 2024, was ranked as one of the 10-best players at his position and a top-35 player overall. The St. Louis-native spurned his home-state school to commit to Texas over 40 scholarship offers from almost ever prominent program in the country.
Although Wingo was below Matthew Golden, DeAndre Moore Jr. and Isaiah Bond on the depth chart for most of the season, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound speedster finished with 29 catches. His 472 receiving yards were the fourth-most on the team and he caught two touchdowns from Arch Manning.
The connection between Manning and Wingo in 2024 was a taste of what is to come. They will be one of the most explosive duos in college football if all things go according to plan.
It will certainly help that Ryan Wingo can see much better today than he could a year ago.
According to Anwar Richardson, the Longhorns coaching staff recently noticed that their five-star rising sophomore was struggling with “very poor vision” during workouts so they presumably encouraged him to see a specialist. One thing led to another and Wingo went under the knife laser. He got LASIK surgery.
According to my sources, Texas WR Ryan Wingo recently had LASIK surgery after the staff discovered he was struggling with very poor vision after struggling in workouts. Apparently, he dealt with it last season. However, he'll clearly see those dimes from Arch Manning this season. pic.twitter.com/vTMXTepyZG

LASIK, typically performed on people who have nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, helps to improve vision. A surgeon permanently reshapes the cornea to correct refractive errors.
Ryan Wingo burst onto the scene as one of the fastest, most explosive pass-catchers in college football as a true freshman in 2024. He did so while struggling to see the ball in the air. Just imagine how good he will be now that his eyes are not broken. Manning to Wingo is going to be a defensive nightmare!
