Former Liverpool and Bayern Munich player Sadio Mane is under fire after the soccer superstar married his 18-year-old “long-term” girlfriend.
British tabloid The Daily Mail first broke the news and also provided additional details about the situation.
“Ex-Liverpool striker Sadio Mane has married his ’18-year-old long term girlfriend’ Aisha Tamba in a private ceremony in his home country of Senegal,” the report claims. “The wedding is believed to have taken place on January 7 in Keur Massar, an area in the capital city of Dakar, just six days before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations on January 13.”

But it doesn’t stop there.
The Daily Mail also reports that the two had been together for a while prior to the wedding and that Mane covered his new bride’s bills throughout school.
“Reports claim Aisha ‘was long intended for the 31-year-old footballer since her teenage years’ though it is not known exactly how long they have been dating. The legal age of consent in Senegal is 16 years of age,” the report states. “It was also reported that the former Liverpool star had taken care of her bills when she was in school.”
This, of course, landed Mane in some hot water with fans.
“That math is not quite mathing,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Wait what. 18 year old???? Long term girlfriend?????? But he’s 31????????,” said another.
Mane spent six years at Liverpool from 2016-2022. He helped the club win the Premier League in 2019-20 and the UEFA Champions League in 2018-19.
He also shared the Premier League Golden Boot with teammate Mohamed Salah and Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Mane then spent one season with German powerhouse Bayern Munich before signing with Al Nassr of the Saudi Pro League prior to the start of the 2023 season.
