There are plenty of teams around the league with questions regarding their quarterback situation. One of which is the New Orleans Saints.
The front office brought Jameis Winston in to potentially be their starting quarterback. Instead, he fell to a backup role and never reclaimed the starting spot.
Now, it sounds like the Saints might be moving on from Winston altogether.
According to Larry Holder of The Athletic, New Orleans has plenty of reasons to release Jameis Winston after June first.

The #Saints can save $12.8 million by releasing him with a post-June 1 designation.

Considering the Saints are always seeking ways to create cap space, gaining $12.8 million would be massive for this team.
For now, it’s unclear what the front office plans to do. However, that amount of money has to be enticing for New Orleans.
Additionally, the Saints have already visited with Derek Carr as they’ve expressed interest in possibly signing him.
We’ll see how it plays out though, as the New York Jets are showing a ton of interest in Carr as well.
New Orleans is likely to sign another veteran this offseason, considering they don’t really have the draft capital to select a top prospect.
As for Jameis Winston, all signs are pointing towards the Saints releasing him this offseason. If that’s the case, then maybe he’ll land somewhere and serve as a strong backup.
Look for NFL rumors to continue buzzing as the free agency period quickly approaches.
