Sam Leavitt is listed as “doubtful” to play in Saturday’s college football game between Ole Miss and LSU. Not even his intense wellness routine could prevent him from getting injured, apparently.
We will find out more about his true status as kickoff nears closer.
Lane Kiffin has been known to exploit the required college football injury report in the past. This could be more of the same.
Is Sam Leavitt actually injured?
The SEC released its first official injury report for the Magnolia Bowl on Wednesday. Louisiana State starting quarterback Sam Leavitt was listed as “doubtful.” Nobody saw it coming. The announcement set the internet on fire.
“Doubtful” means the player has a 25% chance or less of playing. It does not mean zero.
Not only because it would be a huge loss for the Tigers if their starting quarterback does not play, because nobody can trust Kiffin. The betting line moved from LSU -3.5 to LSU -1.5 as soon as the news was announced. It quickly moved right back to -3.5.
Kiffin once listed 26 players on an injury report while at Ole Miss just to make a point. Very few people believe that he is not trolling with this latest injury designation. Even the Rebels believe Leavitt is going to play on Saturday. But nobody really knows.
Maybe the injury is real!!
According to multiple reports, Leavitt sat out of practice on Wednesday with a “sore throwing shoulder.” He has been limited all week. He will continue to be limited on Thursday and Friday. Saturday will be a game-time decision.
Plus, 14 of Kiffin’s players have been listed as “doubtful” on the injury report over the last two years. 13 of them did not start. Jordan Watkins was the exception in 2024. He was the leading receiver in an upset win against Georgia.
Most people think this is more of a Watkins situation than an actual concern. The truth will reveal itself on Saturday night.
An intense “wellness routine” did not prevent LSU’s starting quarterback from landing on the injury report.
The biggest “if” of Sam Leavitt’s college football career is health. What if he had been able to stay healthy?
The former four-star recruit dealt with a few minor injuries during the impressive 2024 season at Arizona State. He missed multiple games in 2025 with a foot injury and ultimately underwent season-ending surgery at the end of October. And now he is at risk of not playing this weekend. We’ll see.
Unfortunately, Leavitt’s intense wellness routine could not prevent him from getting injured. The 21-year-old does whatever he can. He follows a strict regimen in addition to his time in the wight room and at practice. It is focused on both mind and body.
“The way I’m taking care of (myself) the night before is going to directly reflect how I feel physically and mentally the next day.
Leavitt takes very specific measures. That allows her ===========
“I put my phone down at probably 8 p.m., put on my blue light glasses, take all my supplements, and you know do my stretching and get ready for bed.”
His full routine looks something like this:
- 9.5-10 hours of sleep (including naps)
- Blue light glasses on before bed
- Phone down at 8:00 pm.
- Functional range conditioning
- Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF)
- EQ Flux (uses pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) and bioelectric technology to support physical recovery, pain relief, and nervous system regulation)
- Organic food
- No microplastics whenever possible
- Concentrated sea water for magnisium
All of those things are great. A lot of us should follow suit. Leavitt has the right approach to overall health. It did not keep him from getting banged up. Unless the injury isn’t real…
