It appears that David Benavidez vs Canelo Alvarez is not going to happen in Saudi Arabia.

While the Saudis have been handing out large sums of money for big fights, Canelo may have priced himself out in a fight against Benavidez.

Earlier this week, Canelo told Fight Hub that he would only fight Benavidez if offered $150-$200 million.

“Who is he to offer me money? If he offered the amount he said, I can make that amount with anybody. That’s nothing. He brings nothing to the table for me, just 25lbs more on fight night.”

“If some promoter, not him, because he’s nothing to offer me…but I one promoter who I work to they come and say I offer to I offer to you 150 to 200 million. I fight tomorrow…that’s the only that’s the only reason I fight with him…”

Saudi promoter Turki Alalshikh has reacted to Canelo’s by saying that he believes a fight between Benavidez and the winner of the Beterbiev/Bivol fight is “more practical’ at this point.

“Told that His Excellency Turki Alalshikh wants to make a fight between David Benavidez and the winner of Dmitry Bivol vs Artur Beterbiev in December. He believes this is more practical than Canelo Alvarez vs Benavidez. Bivol vs Beterbiev on June 1st has a rematch clause, but Alalshikh would be open to having Benavidez face the winner in between their two fights.”
