There are plenty of rumors swirling around the NFL right now as teams are aiming to improve their rosters for the 2023 season.

The Denver Broncos have been involved in numerous rumors, as reports suggest the franchise may trade wide receivers Courtland Sutton and/or Jerry Jeudy.

Now, head coach Sean Payton addresses the situation in Denver.

According to Bobby Kownack, Payton essentially dumps cold water all over the recent trade rumors. He does admit to fielding phone calls, but it sounds like that’s as far as it’s gone.

“I see and read just like everyone else does. Then occasionally, when someone really crowds the plate, I throw a fastball right at their chin, and they back up, and they’re like, ‘Alright.’ And so I haven’t thrown any fastballs lately, but we’re not trading those two players.”

There you have it. Sean Payton claims the Broncos are not going to trade Jeudy or Sutton. So you can (possibly) scratch them off of your list as potential trade targets.

This could just be coach talk. We’ve seen coaches say something like this before only to have a trade happen anyway. Look at AJ Brown’s trade during the NFL Draft last year as a prime example.

Even so, it makes sense for Denver to keep both Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton. Especially considering Sean Payton’s offense needs receivers for Russell Wilson to throw the ball to.

With that said, anything can happen during the draft. So, if a team ends up offering an enticing deal, Sean Payton and the Broncos may opt to pull the trigger.
