At this point, it’s pretty clear Athletics owner John Fisher has no plans to sell the team that is slated to relocate to Las Vegas. However, many fans still haven’t given up on their crusade the pressure him into doing exactly that—including one man who attracted a bunch of security guards after hijacking a pregame show to try to send a message.

By this point, most baseball fans are familiar with the drama surrounding the Athletics, the franchise that called Oakland home for close to 60 years but is currently playing in a minor league stadium in Sacramento that can accommodate around 14,000 fans after bidding The Coliseum farewell last season.

That move firmly rests on the shoulders of John Fisher, the billionaire heir to the Gap clothing fortune who bought the Athletics in 2005 and has spent the past couple of decades slowly but surely cementing himself as one of the most reviled owners in all of sports due to the seemingly purposeful mismanagement that precipitated his decision to relocate the franchise to Las Vegas.

That move obviously did not sit well with the many A’s fans in the Oakland area and beyond who spent the past few years mounting a campaign to pressure Fisher to sell the team to someone who would actually seem to care about it.

It’s essentially a lost cause now that they’ve temporarily set up shop in Sacramento ahead of a move to a new stadium in Las Vegas (which is tentatively scheduled for the 2028 season), but that hasn’t stopped supporters who already dropped dough on “Sell” shirts and other merchandise from getting their money’s worth.

That includes one man who headed to Sutter Health Stadium on Thursday for a matinee between the A’s and the Twins who ended up standing behind the desk where the NBC Sports California pregame show was being filmed.

Awful Announcing shared a couple of clips that document his initial interaction with a security guard before an entire squad descended upon the area, and the outlet notes he and his “Sell” shirt were nowhere to be found by the time the broadcast returned from a commercial break.

This isn’t necessarily a surprising development, as it’s pretty obvious John Fisher is a student of the James Dolan School of Fan Management. However, it’s still not a great look.
