The Par 3 17th at TPC Sawgrass provided plenty of fireworks on Saturday with winds gusting over 30mph forcing well over a dozen tee shots to find the water. The wind died down during Sunday’s third round, however, and Shane Lowry provided the firework of all fireworks on the island green.

Fresh off of a birdie at the Par 5 16th and 1-under for the tournament, Lowry was able to flight a wedge just past the front pin location. Lowry’s ball then spun back into the cup for what was a perfect hole-in-one on the most iconic Par 3 in golf.

Lowry celebrated with pure joy, and even managed to sneak in a not-so-great high-five with playing partner Ian Poulter.

Lowry’s ace was the first Sunday hole-in-one at The Players since Fred Couples made one of his own back in 1997. The Irishman’s lone other hole-in-one on the PGA Tour came on the Par 3 16th at the Masters, which certainly isn’t a bad hole to pair alongside his most recent ace.

The 2019 Open Champion jumped to 4-under after his ace, four shots back of the current co-leaders.
