Shaq had a message for Dillon Brooks on the latest episode of his podcast: “Get ready to learn Chinese, buddy.”

Reacting to the news that the Memphis Grizzlies will not be resigning the 27-year-old Brooks “under any circumstances” on his show The Big Podcast, Shaq said that there may not be a single team in the NBA willing to sign him.

“He didn’t play well enough to be acting like that,” Shaq said of Brooks, who made headlines in the first round of the NBA Playoffs for comments he made about LeBron James.

“So now he’s going to be out of the league or he’s going to have to check his self [sic] before he wrecks his self. Who’s going to sign him? He’s not athletic. He ain’t jumpin’ out the gym. And his jumper ain’t like that. And… it happens.”

While it’s certainly a brutal piece of analysis from Shaq, it also proves how much harm Brooks has done to whatever previous reputation he had.

During the 2022-23 season, Brooks averaged 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. Over the course of his six seasons in the NBA, all of which have come with the Memphis Grizzlies, Brooks has averaged 14.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.

Brooks was just one of many disappointing factors the in Grizzlies’ brief playoff run, as the #2 overall seed in the Western Conference was knocked out of the postseason by the Los Angeles Lakers in six games, while also losing in the decisive sixth game by 40 points.

As for LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers, they took a 1-0 series lead over Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors following their 117-112 victory in San Francisco on Tuesday night. Game 2 will tip off from The Bay on Thursday night at 10 p.m. EST.
