What in the hell is wrong with people? Seriously, there has been some seriously messed up shit that sports fans have done before, but this soccer ref getting attacked and mauled by fans who rushed the field has to be up there with some of the craziest ever.
The brutal beatdown came during a playoff match between DCMP and Dauphin Noir in the Democratic Republic of Congo, but I’m not quite sure what the reasoning was—other than really mean people doing really mean things.
In addition to leaving the ref left for dead and forced to be taken off on a stretcher, fans also ripped seats from the stadium, that was left with “substantial damage” from their rage.
This is all sorts of fucked up.
