There is something truly special about rivalries in college sports.
Sometimes that’s the case even when those rivals have their hands full with an entirely different opponent.
Today, South Carolina took on Notre Dame in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl in a back-and-forth battle between the only 2 teams to beat Clemson this season.
During that game, Clemson was preparing to take on Tennessee at the Orange Bowl in a clash of Top 10 teams that were both seen as Playoff contenders throughout the year.
That didn’t stop a South Carolina fan from taking the opportunity to troll the Clemson Tigers.
Hours before kickoff at the Orange Bowl, a plane was seen flying a better with a special message for Clemson. It said, “Enjoy your bowl game -Gamecocks”.

The banner is a reference to South Carolina’s responsibility for Clemson playing in the Orange Bowl instead of appearing in one of the College Football Playoff games tomorrow.
Clemson took on South Carolina in their last regular season game after head coach Dabo Swinney had talked trash about Tennessee’s stumble against the Gamecocks a week earlier.
Then South Carolina went out and beat Clemson in front of their home crowd. If the Tigers had won that game, they certainly would have had a spot in the Playoff right now.
Unfortunately for South Carolina, they never came anywhere close to a Playoff spot this season, but at least they can take some joy in ruining what was a very strong season for their biggest rival.
Whoever rented the play to share this message is certainly still enjoying that win from late last month.
