Believe it or not, some people out there don’t like ice-cold water, and it appears Stan Wawrinka falls into that group.

The three-time grand slam champ fell to Corentin Moutet in the first round of the French Open, but not before he let everyone know just how disappointed he was in the water at Roland-Garros.

While down 5-2 in the third set, Wawrinka walked over to the umpire and started complaining about the “freaking freezing” water he was being given. According to him, the water was too cold for grand slam standards.

“It is not normal at a grand slam,” Wawrinka shouted at the umpire. “Is that normal? Do you think it is normal? So you call someone. It has been three changeovers, I asked you for some water that is not freaking freezing.

“Because it is not good. You are at the French Open and you cannot get normal water. You think it is normal?”

Maybe Wawrinka should have brought his own room-temperature water to the court with him?

Athletes complain a lot, but shouting about water being too cold during a match is a new one.

Rafael Nadal needs his towels and everything else in a certain order, and Wawrinka simply needs a bottle of water that isn’t too cold.

Elite athletes are a different breed, indeed.
