Last weekend Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver and former Florida Gators player Louis Murphy partied down at a wedding held inside of the Flagler Museum in Palm Beach County. After getting pretty turnt up the wedding he went to rest his eyes for a moment and next thing he knew Louis Murphy was waking up locked inside of the museum, and it was already the next day.
The Palm Beach Daily News reports:
After drinking at a wedding, a current Tampa Bay Buccaneers and former Florida Gators football player woke up early Saturday morning faced with more than a hangover.
According to Palm Beach Police, Louis Morris Murphy Jr., 29, found himself locked inside the courtyard at the Flagler Museum. Before the ordeal was over, he caused $1,000 in damage to museum property, the report said, but Murphy was not charged.
Murphy, a wide receiver for the Bucs, told police he became nervous and broke the glass on one of the doors to unlock it, according to the report. Murphy called 911. Police arrived shortly after 1 a.m.
When police arrived, Murphy told an officer he was attending a wedding reception and had been drinking. The Tampa Bay Times reported that he was at the wedding for former Gators teammate Deonte Thompson, who’s also an NFL receiver.
Murphy told police he went into the courtyard and fell asleep on the steps. When he woke up everyone was gone and the doors were locked, according to the police report.
After all this went down he gave a statement to the Tampa Bay Times today, trying to clear the air on what happened and begin to make apologies for his actions:
“This was really just a series of small unfortunate circumstances. With no one around, my only option was to break a small glass pane of the door in order to access a phone and call for help. I dialed the police and explained that I needed assistance. It’s unfortunate that I needed to break the glass, but the police officers on the scene and museum staff acknowledged that I didn’t have many other options. I’m working with the museum to ensure everything is properly handled.”

As a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan myself I just want to say one thing to Wide Receiver Louis Murphy: get it out of your system NOW, bro, because when this season gets going you better not put a single drop of alcohol into your body. The expectations are VERY HIGH going into the 2016-2017 NFL season, and I’m hoping Jameis Winston finally leads us back to the postseason promise land, as is every other Bucs fan in Florida, so we can’t be having shenanigans like this once pre-season drills begin.
Every NFL fan is delusional and believes pre-season that THIS IS THE YEAR their team will make the playoffs, but all of the talent pieces are finally in place for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and this is actually the year we return to the postseason.
