Taylor Swift will not play in the Super Bowl. Her boyfriend will.
The international pop superstar does not play football. Her boyfriend does.
Kansas City is set to play San Francisco for the Lombardi Trophy in Las Vegas. Swift may or may not attend the game, but she will most certainly not be in uniform on the field.
While that might seem like common sense, Swifties are blurring the lines. They are very proud of their queen for leading the Chiefs to victory in the AFC Championship on Sunday even though she never even played a single snap. They treat her like she was the one who caught 11 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown, not Travis Kelce.
Fortunately, Taylor Swift is self-aware.
A large group of fans gathered outside of the tunnel to catch a glimpse friends and family as they left the field in Baltimore. One of them yelled, “YOU DID THAT S—!”
Swift refused to take any credit and promptly (swiftly was too corny) replied, “I didn’t do anything!”
And then it devolved into mayhem. Some unhinged woman started yelling at Swift for “ruining football.” The people around her gasped. A few of them chirped back. Others quietly booed.
Swift wasn’t fazed. She and Brittany Mahomes galloped jauntily out of the tunnel hand-in-hand.
Big shoutout to Swift.
Not only did she refuse the spotlight that isn’t hers, she does not give a care about what people say. The haters are going to hate. Let them hate.
Anyone who says that Taylor Swift is “ruining football” has zero sense of reality. A small subset of the fanbase is angry with her presence in the sport because they have brain worms and cannot accept that it isn’t that serious. Meanwhile, ratings for games that involve the Chiefs continue to skyrocket.
It is impossible to tell the story of this current NFL season without Swift, especially now that Kelce will return to the Super Bowl for the fourth time in five years. But she isn’t on the field…
