Taylor Swift Fans Went From Knowing Nothing About The NFL To Making Edits In Honor Of Jason Kelce

Following their unfortunately embarrassing 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night, it was announced that likely future Hall of Fame Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce would be retiring from the league.

While Kelce, who is beloved in the city of Philadelphia, is obviously being celebrated by Eagles fans, another group of people that are perhaps surprisingly forlorn about Kelce riding off into the podcast sunset are… Taylor Swift fans?

Yes, simply because Jason is the brother of Travis — who, in case you haven’t heard, is dating Taylor Swift — ‘Swifties’ are actually “sobbing hysterically” over Kelce’s retirement and are posting edits (or fancams, I’m not sure what the difference is) in his honor.

The 36-year-old Kelce was drafted by the Eagles in the 6th round of the 2011 draft and spent his entire career with the team. During his time with the Eagles, Kelce made seven Pro Bowls, was named to six All-Pro first teams (including every year since 2021), and won a Super Bowl during the 2017-18 season.

To Swift’s credit, she’s certainly taken to the NFL, as she braved the elements to attend the Kansas City Chiefs Wild Card round win over the Miami Dolphins in subzero weather.

Swift certainly picked an interesting year to become a Chiefs groupie as the team will be playing in their first-ever road playoff game (not counting the neutral sites of Super Bowls) of the Patrick Mahomes era.

Thanks to their win over the Dolphins, Mahomes, Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs advanced to the AFC Divisional round, where they’ll take on Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, January 21 at 6:30 p.m. EST. While the Chiefs and the Bills have squared off in the playoffs quite a few times in recent years, this is the first time the matchup will take place in Buffalo.

The Bills are favored over the Chiefs by 2.5 points heading into Sunday’s game. The point total also sits at 45.5.
