It is the goal of every franchise in the NFL to win a Super Bowl and raise the Lombardi Trophy. There may not be a bigger prize in all of professional sports in the world.

Today, either the San Francisco 49ers or the Kansas City Chiefs will raise the Lombardi Trophy for either the sixth or fourth time, respectively, at the conclusion of Super Bowl LVIII from Las Vegas.

And, if the Kansas City Chiefs come out victorious, we could see pop megastar and the reigning Time Person of the Year, Taylor Swift hold the Lombardi Trophy at some point in the aftermath of the game.

If you’re clicking this article and aren’t sure what Taylor Swift has to do with the Super Bowl, you’re basically a unicorn at this point. But, for the sake of transparency, Swift has been dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce since the summer of 2023. The NFL has been at the center of their relationship from the start, as they publicly confirmed their relationship when Taylor Swift showed up to the Chiefs’ week three game against the Chicago Bears.

Since, she’s attended twelve Chiefs games, with the team going 9-3 in those contests. That means that Sunday’s Super Bowl LVIII will be her thirteenth game. In the vast lore of Taylor Swift, one that could rival the deepest of fantasy novels, that is her luckiest number.

Twelve teams have not won the Super Bowl. The Lions, Vikings, Panthers, Falcons, Cardinals, Browns, Bengals, Bills, Titans, Texans, Jaguars, and Chargers are the dozen franchises who have yet to get their hands on the Lombardi Trophy. But, ever since she showed up to everyone’s surprise in Week 3 at Arrowhead Stadium, celebrating and living and dying with every play like the rest of us, hasn’t this been destiny all along? That’s not to stay it’s a fixed outcome, because it isn’t. But, It seems like this Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift romance, arguably the greatest crossover between pop culture and sports in modern American history, is destined for a happy ending.

That is, unless you’re a San Francisco 49ers fan.
