A Titans fan who vowed to walk from MetLife Stadium in New York to Nissan Stadium in Nashville if the Jets beat Tennessee in Week 1 is now backing out of his promise.
The fan initially agreed to follow through on the walk following the Titans’ 23-10 season-opening loss, but he had already begun laying the groundwork for weaseling out of his promise well before the game happened.
“If the #TitanUp lose to the Jets week 1 I will walk from MetLife Stadium all the way to Nissan Stadium non stop,” his initial post on X read.
His first problem is that the game was being held in Nashville, which one fan helpfully pointed out, writing, “Week 1 is IN Nashville already, so you’re going to pay for a flight to MetLife and then walk home?”
The next day, the Titans fan followed up with another message with an image from a maps app that said “Walking Directions Not Available.”
“Didn’t think this was going to blow up like it did,” he wrote. “And according to Apple Maps, this walk apparently isn’t possible. So here’s what I’ll do: if the #JetUp beat the #TitanUp, I’ll donate $100 for every Jets point scored to a local charity in New Jersey/ New York area.”
After the Jets beat the Titans, the internet was quick to pounce
“For everybody that’s in my mentions I’m not walking so stop asking,” the Titans fan wrote.
“Bro posts a wager, says he’ll walk across states if his team loses, they lose, post blows up, he b—— out, nothing happens, the end,” one fan wrote. “When we used to be honourable, he would have been shamed for the rest of his life, and his entire bloodline would have felt the consequences.”
Even the New York Jets chimed in with a receipt.
He eventually relented and said he would be making the walk, writing, “Alright… the walk is happening in some form. Working through the circumstances right now, but working on making it happen.”
On Wednesday, he said the walk wasn’t happening anymore
“The past week on the internet has been an absolute whirlwind over a stupid tweet I made back in August,” he said in a statement. “Once it blew up, I immediately revised it, and that part of the bet was fulfilled with a $2,300 donation.
“Regarding the walk from MetLife to Nashville, with the help of the Titans and others, we explored every possible way to make it happen,” he continued. “I was also approached by a group of people who told me they would handle the logistics and help put the entire thing together. I trusted that process, but unfortunately, communication eventually stopped and I was ghosted.”

“Told my child not to bet her friends,” her mom, Kia J. Brooks, wrote on Instagram. “Now she has to wear a whole other university’s gear walking down the tunnel for her last game of the season.”
Hey, at least she followed through on her bet, regardless of how painful it must have been for her.
