The Houston Texans Have Proved Once Again They Have No Clue What They’re Doing

The Houston Texans have a strong argument to be the worst franchise in the NFL right now. The team seems to have no direction and is toiling at the bottom of the league.

Of course, when you hire Lovie Smith to coach your football team in the year 2022, that’s going to be a sign you’re on the wrong path. After all, the former Bears coach hasn’t had a winning record at any level since 2012.

It was a shock when they hired him, but it’s a franchise that’s doing things unconventionally, to say the least. After all, up until October, Jack Easterby, a former team chaplain, was running the franchise. He had no real qualifications, but that didn’t matter to owner Cal McNair and the other stakeholders. Again, it’s a franchise that has no clue what they’re doing.

After a tie in week 1 against the Colts, the Texans were predictably bad. They went into their week 18 game against the Colts with a dismal 2-13-1 record and the number one overall pick in the 2023 draft. Of course, in typical Texans fashion, they won the game to rob themselves of the top overall pick.

But, it’s what they did after the game that truly shows just how lost the franchise is.

The Texans fired Lovie Smith after just one season

Last year, the team fired coach David Culley after just one season. Now, they’ve fired another coach after just 17 games.

Wow. Firing two coaches that you gave terrible rosters to after one season in back-to-back years is not going to do you any favors in trying to get a good coach. And, people are ticked off at their treatment of Culley and Smith, two black coaches.

Good luck getting a good coach, Houston.
