Former Texas A&M WR Evan Stewart Trashes Aggies While Discussing Transfer To Oregon

Former five-star recruit Evan Stewart burst onto the scene in the college football world as a freshman with the Texas A&M Aggies.

But two years later, Stewart has found a new home with the Oregon Ducks, and it appears he has no regrets about the decision.

The star wideout took a swipe at his former program recently when discussing his new life with the Ducks

“Honestly, it just suited everything that I was looking for,” Stewart said on Thursday after practice. “I just wanted to be in a great program that had a lot of order and construction. I got here and everything is in order. Honestly, everything is just so much better here.”

Not exactly subtle!

Asked to expand on his comments, Stewart took direct aim at the Texas A&M offense in recent years.

“I’m trying to get them passes,” he said. “At A&M, we were moving the ball, but we weren’t as complete as we could be. Coming here, we’ve definitely got a lot.”

Stewart caught 91 passes for 1,163 yards and six touchdowns in 18 games at Texas A&M. He also dealt with injuries and a carousel of quarterbacks during his time in College Station.

Now it appears he’s ready to show what he’s capable of with the Ducks.

Stewart joined the Aggies as part of their now-infamous 2022 recruiting class, and he may well have been the class’ crown jewel.

“One of the most dynamic athletes in his cycle with layered athletic context thanks to one of the 2022 class’ best track and field profiles,” Gabe Brooks of 247Sports said at the time. “Pairs those qualities with elite natural receiver skills. Tracks well downfield and displays terrific adjustment abilities and body control when required. Field speed reflects track speed (10.58 100) and yields dangerous vertical field-stretching threat. Equally dangerous in run-after-catch situations thanks to explosive athleticism.”

Something tells us Oregon transfer quarterback Dillon Gabriel is glad to have Stewart at his disposal.
