Texas QB Quinn Ewers is being projected as a surefire first-round NFL draft pick,k but he’s still only a college freshman and has a lot to learn.
During Saturday’s Texas-Iowa State game, Ewers made a bizarre mistake that almost cost his team.
While trying to throw the ball away toward a receiver during a broken play, unfortunately, Ewers didn’t notice that his teammate was behind him.
Quinn Ewers just tried to throw the ball away…backwards. Loss of 36 yards. I’ve never seen that before from a QB. 4th and 56.

Thankfully Ewers was able to jump on the ball and recover the fumble but still lost 36 yards onthee play.
Here’s a closer look at the play.

College football fans immediately jumped all over Ewers for Ewers over his mistake.
This the same Ewers y’all said would have definitely beat Alabama? https://t.co/NpsTomZOaS

Others defended Ewers over the bizarre play.
If a screen play is blown up.. you’re taught to throw the ball at the receivers feet right?
Quinn Ewers just doing what he’s taught here.. great awareness to recover the fumble too 😂😂pic.twitter.com/G8YlooSRbF
