Tiger Woods is the most successful golfer of the modern era. He’ll be returning to the course this week as the host of his tournament in The Bahamas where he’ll be earning a ton of money even if he doesn’t make the cut.
Throughout his career, Tiger Woods has earned somewhere in the region of $110 million on the course in winnings. In fact, until recently Tiger Woods had earned more money in winnings than any other athlete on the planet. Roger Federer recently surpassed him to take that #1 spot.
Alex Myers from Golf Digest thought it would be interesting to break down how much the top 10 golfers in the world (right now) have made per shot, and he also ran the numbers on how much Tiger Woods has made per shot throughout his career. Given that Tiger’s made more on the course than any other golfer in history, it shouldn’t surprise you that he’s also made more money per shot than any other golfer.
Of the current World Top 10, Jordan Spieth has made the most per shot at $1,104. That’s $1,104 earned for every single shot Jordan’s taken on tour. Coming in a second is Rory McIlroy at $1,073 per shot.
So what’s Tiger made? His career average is $1,282 per shot. But in 2008, the best year of Tiger’s career, he was making $4,191 for every single shot he took.
