Toronto Blue Jays reliever Tim Mayza was not active during Saturday’s spring training game against the Phillies but he was still in uniform. The 32-year-old lefty was forced to serve as the bat boy for his own team after losing his fantasy football league.

Mayza went into his punishment without having any knowledge of what to do. He has always been on the other side of the operation and needed a crash course on the proper way to perform his duties for the day. Fortunately, an MLB veteran was there to help guide him through it!

If serving as the bat boy for his own team wasn’t brutal enough, his new jersey reflected his inability to win. Mayza wore a very unique number: 4-10.

The 4 reflects his wins. The 10 reflects his losses.

While the title of ‘bat boy’ is one that should be worn with pride, and rightfully so, it is a lot less fun when you have to serve your friends and teammates as a punishment. And to make matters worse, Mayza was active early. Toronto scored a run in the bottom of the first that required its bat boy to spring into action.

Mayza trotted out of the dugout, jogged over to the plate, and grabbed the bat from Dalton Varsho after the two-RBI double.

Although the jersey number might hint at some shenanigans, if you didn’t know that he is actually a pitcher on the team, you would have no idea. He looked every bit the part— big helmet and all!

There have been a lot of creative fantasy football punishments throughout the years. The Waffle House challenge and similarly-structured outings seem to be all of the rage these days.

The Jays took it up a notch and did a great job!
