With the NFL free agency period cooling down, all eyes are on the NFL Draft. However, some teams, like the Tennessee Titans, have some options on the table.

Recent reports suggested that star safety Kevin Byard might be cut this offseason if he doesn’t agree to take a decrease in pay.

Now, the new general manager Ran Carthon addresses the situation.

According to Kevin Patra, Carthon basically dumps cold water all over the recent reports regarding Byard asking to be released. Here’s what the Titans’ general manager had to say.

“I will say this — K.B., nor his representatives, ever asked us for a release. So, that was blatantly false. That’s what I’ll say about that.”

With that said, it’s safe to assume Byard never actually asked for a release. However, as Patra points out, Carthon never addressed the reports of the Titans asking their star safety to take a pay cut.

“Carthon rejecting the release reporting but not the part about the team approaching the safety about taking a pay cut underscores that the situation is up in the air.”

The Titans are going through some major changes right now. So any veteran player could potentially move on this offseason.

With the NFL Draft roughly a month away, Tennessee could be pondering making some big trades to acquire more draft picks.

Either way, Kevin Byard remains with the Titans for now. This is still a situation to monitor though, as Tennessee is making some changes to the roster.

Look for more information about Kevin Byard to come to light soon, as his future in Tennessee is still up in the air.
