Tom Brady Breaks Down His Biggest Concern With Josh Allen’s Game

Josh Allen has struggled a bit more than people expected him to this season, but the Bills are still 5-3 and firmly in the playoff hunt. Buffalo’s franchise QB definitely has some room to improve, and now, Tom Brady has chimed in to say he thinks Allen needs to focus on one specific aspect of his game sooner rather than later.

There’s a reason Tom Brady is widely considered the greatest quarterback to ever step foot on the gridiron, and you’d be hard-pressed to find an NFL player at that position who wouldn’t listen to what the G.O.A.T. has to say when it comes to improving their skills.

Josh Allen has obviously played a major role in helping the Buffalo Bills turn their fortunes around following decades of mediocrity (which certainly had something to do with sharing the AFC East with Brady for 20 years), as the team has more than managed to capitalize on having one of the best dual-threat QBs in the league on its roster.

The fact that Allen can get things done with his arm and his legs on any given play makes him a force to be reckoned with, but when he stopped by to chat with Brady and Co. on a recent episode of the Let’s Go! podcast, the 46-year-old legend suggested he needs to rethink his approach when he tries to get things done on the ground.

Here’s what he had to say:

“I think sometimes he gets used to and he wants to run it because he knows he can gain yards. There’s a lot of confidence in it.

But the only problem is, from my standpoint, you’re putting yourself in harm’s way. And when you put yourself in harm’s way, it doesn’t take much for someone to land on you to set you back.

Not that he shouldn’t run, but when he does run, f****** slide and make sure no one hits you because I don’t ever want to see him get hurt and I want to see him out there playing out there because he’s such a f****** stud.”

If you kept tabs on Brady over the course of his career, you likely know he’s one of the last QBs you want to consult when it comes to working on your running game, but he still makes a valid (albeit fairly obvious) point.

Allen did come to his own defense while discussing the mentality that probably makes him take more risks than he needs to, saying:

“That’s where the flip for me is so hard to turn off because I just care so much about winning football games and sometimes it does cause the risk to be a little bit higher than maybe even the reward.”

It’s worked out for him so far, but as Brady notes, a single ill-advised play can have career-altering consequences if you aren’t lucky. I guess we’ll just have to see if Allen takes his advice to heart.
