Tom Brady brought an early end to fan speculation about what his future will hold for the 2023 NFL season.

Yesterday he announced that he would be retiring for the 2nd time in as many years.

Today, Tom Brady Sr discussed his son’s decision and revealed where he would have like to see him play if he had returned for another season.

Brady Sr told the Boston Globe’s Ben Colin that he’d have enjoyed seeing his son play for the San Francisco 49ers.

That possibility became much more realistic recently after it was revealed that Brock Purdy had torn his UCL. The initial estimate on his recovery time was 6 months, which would see him return to the field in July. Anything beyond that could have the 49ers looking at other options for the start of the season.

However, bringing in Brady would have meant keeping Trey Lance on the bench for another year after the 49ers traded up to the 3rd overall pick to take him in the 2021 draft.

If it had actually happened, Brady would have had plenty of talent around him to improve upon the results he saw this season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While that may have been the best move for him if he had chosen to play another season, it may not have necessarily been the best move for the 49ers after they saw how far their rookie quarterback could take them this season at a much lower cost.

At this point though, it is all hypothetical as Brady is once again retired and it seems like he means it this time.
