Tommy DeVito’s dad is breaking his silence regarding his son’s benching.
On Monday, DeVito’s magical run in New York appeared to end when he was benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor in the team’s loss to the Eagles on Christmas.
After the game, DeVito spoke to the media about the benching.
“(It’s a) Constant reminder that it’s a business. They’re always going to try to find someone to replace you, whatever it is. I respect it,” DeVito said.
“They’re always going to find someone to replace you whatever it is.”

On Tuesday, DeVito’s father, who has been getting plenty of airtime on TV during his son’s games, spoke to the NY Post and said he was “perplexed” by the Giants’ decision.
“I thought he was hurt, maybe,” Tom DeVito Sr. told The Post. “Maybe something happened. He usually in the past would text me from halftime if he’s hurt or something, so I didn’t get any of that. Then I just heard it like you guys did from the sideline reporter, ‘Coach’s decision.’ ”
“Yeah, I’m his dad, of course I wanted him to play, but I guess the offense wasn’t doing much so they tried something else. Then you just root for the team and see what happens.”
“I was a little perplexed by it. I didn’t see him do anything wrong,”
Giants head coach Brian Daboll told the media that he has yet to make a final decision on whether or not DeVito would stay on the bench or start the team’s next game.
