Tommy DeVito Speaks Out After Being Benched For Tyrod Taylor In Loss To Eagles

Tommy DeVito‘s 15 minutes of fame may well be over with the New York Giants.

The unlikely star quarterback was benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor on Monday during New York’s 33-25 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

DeVito went just 9-of–16 for 55 yards in the first half and the Giants trailed 20-3 at the break.

After the game, DeVito was asked about losing his spot, and he didn’t exactly hold back.

“(It’s a) Constant reminder that it’s a business. They’re always going to try to find someone to replace you, whatever it is. I respect it,” DeVito said.

Nothing he said is wrong. But it’s a pretty harsh criticism of a coach and organization that stuck with him after a brutal performance against the New Orleans Saints a week ago.

If it is DeVito’s final start, it’s hard to argue that he hasn’t made the most of the situation. The Illinois product became an overnight sensation in New York and New Jersey and “Tommy Cutlets” became a household name.

He also a made a point to capitalize on the moment by filing trademarks for the phrases “Tommy Cutlets” and “Passing Paisano.”

So long, sweet Italian prince. We hardly knew ye.
