New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito and his team clearly know the #1 rule of business: strike while the iron’s hot.

Not only is DeVito the talk of New York City after he saved the Giants’ season from complete disaster courtesy of a three-game winning streak earlier in the month, but he’s become a national NFL story, too.

DeVito hasn’t just been treading water, either, as he’s completed 64% of his passes for 1,032 yards, 8 touchdowns, and just 3 interceptions. He’s also added 35 carries for 190 yards and a touchdown.

These are better statistics than anyone who has played quarterback for the New York Jets this season, for example, despite the fact that Gang Green has far superior offensive weapons.

Thanks to his performance on the field, DeVito has undoubtedly earned himself a spot on the Giants’ roster come the start of training camp next summer.

Furthermore, off the field, DeVito is making shrew moves to capitalize on his fame while the iron’s hot.

According to DeVito’s marketing agency MAXX MGMT and his manager Maxx Lepselter, the 25-year-old New Jersey native, via his LLC, has filed trademarks for the phrases “Tommy Cutlets” and “Passing Paisano.”

With Daniel Jones’ injury and the general averageness he’s displayed throughout his career, DeVito could have a real shot at entering next season’s training camp with the opportunity to be in a battle for the starting gig if he continues to display the competence he’s shown thus far this season.

There’s also the undeniable fact that DeVito — a hometown kid who went to high school about 30 minutes from MetLife Stadium — is already a massive fan favorite, both locally and in terms of the NFL media.

The Giants’ final three games of their 2023 season feature two matchups against the Philadelphia Eagles (the first of which is this weekend) and one against the Los Angeles Rams.
