Tony Romo will be taking a break from CBS.
Earlier this week, Romo was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in Milwaukee after failing a field sobriety test.
Romo’s arrest video was leaked online and immediately went viral on social media.

On Friday, CBS announced Romo would be placed on indefinite leave from the network and would be temporarily replaced by JJ Watt.

“Tony Romo is on leave from his role at CBS Sports until further notice,” the network said in a statement.
With Romo on leave, former Houston Texans pass rusher J.J. Watt will step in as CBS’ lead game analyst to work with Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson. Watt became a game analyst last season after first joining the network in 2023.
It is worth noting Romo has 4 years and $72 million left on his contract.

Despite the arrest, it seems like CBS will not fire Romo for it, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

One source told the Daily Mail: ‘He might step back a little, short term, but he isn’t going anywhere long term. That wouldn’t make any sense for us at all.’
A CBS executive added: ‘I don’t want to act like it’s not a big deal, because it is. But it’s not going to get him fired.’
