Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and CBS Sports’ current lead NFL play-by-play analyst Tony Romo has been arrested for CWI. Romo was arrested for operating a vehicle while under the influence in Milwaukee on the night of Thursday, July 23.
According to reports, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office pulled Tony Romo over on a high-rise bridge while going southbound on the I-43 highway around 8 p.m. local time on July 23.

FOX6 News obtained Romo’s arrest detention report that says the 46-year-old was taken into custody and charged with OWI (first offense) after performing poorly on his field sobriety tests. Reports have not specified what substance the arresting officers suspected Romo of being under the influence of or whether he agreed to take a breathalyzer test.
The former Cowboys Pro Bowl signal caller was booked and released and has his first court date scheduled for Monday, September 21. In the state of Wisconsin, a first-offense OWI is generally a civil offense, not a criminal charge, and typically carries a fine ranging from $150 to $300.

Milwaukee is just a 45-minute drive from Romo’s hometown of Burlington, Wisconsin, where grew up and graduated from Burlington High School. At Burlington High School, he became the first student-athlete to be named all-state in three sports: football, basketball, and golf. While Romo’s primary residence is in Dallas, Texas, he remained connected to Burlington and held many football camps there over the years.
Romo, a four-time Pro Bowler, played 13 seasons for the Cowboys and threw for 34,183 yards and 248 touchdowns.
