On Monday, the Denver Nuggets won their first NBA title in franchise history. Led by Finals MVP Nikola Jokic, the team finished off the Heat in five games.

One NBA superstar believes his time is now, with Trae Young predicting the Hawks to hoist the trophy come this time next year. He’s quickly getting ripped by basketball fans.

The Nuggets weren’t a likely champion at season’s start, entering the year with 16/1 odds. That ranked 10th in the league, behind teams like the Celtics, Warriors, Lakers, and Heat.

They defied the odds throughout the season, landing the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference before finishing off a postseason run with a title.

Trae Young is hoping to see a similar result for Atlanta next year.

He posted a message on Twitter during the Nuggets’ trophy ceremony, which is now being blasted by fans.

“We next,” Young wrote on social media, though he doesn’t appear to have the support of many around the league.

Most seem to remember the Atlanta team from 2023 that went just 41-41 and fell in the first round of the NBA playoffs. They quickly reminded him of that fact.

Stay off the weeeeed….

Stephen A. made a few appearances in the comments section.

We are all laughing.

It’s been a while since the Hawks won a title, though Trae Young thinks he can bring the franchise its first championship since 1958. That came 10 years before the team moved to Atlanta.

NBA fans can be absolutely brutal.

Vegas doesn’t have much faith in the Hawks, either. Atlanta currently holds 50/1 odds to win the 2024 NBA championship.

We’ll see if Trae Young can prove the haters wrong next season.
