Travis Etienne is one of the most talented running backs in the NFL. However, he is often hindered by the play of others and has yet to reach his full potential on a consistent basis.
There have been moments of greatness. The former first-round draft pick ran for more than 100 yards on five different occasions in 2022 and went for 136 against the Buffalo Bills during Week 5 of the current year.
Etienne has been kept in check throughout the majority of this season. He has totaled just 837 yards rushing on 229 carries with nine touchdowns.
Jacksonville’s offensive line has failed him, a lot. His mom is fed up!
Donnetta Etienne took to social media and aired her grievances ahead of the Jaguars‘ game against the Buccaneers on Christmas Eve. She asked Santa to put one specific gift under the tree and it’s not for her.
Travis’ mother requested better blocking in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

That post has since been deleted but another remains live online. A Jacksonville fan by the name of Nash Henry suggested that his team get Etienne the ball more often.
Donnetta implied that it wouldn’t matter because the offensive line won’t block anyway.
Mrs. Etienne is not wrong that the offensive line in northeastern Florida has been pretty terrible this year. Saying it out loud, on a public forum may not have been necessary.
Travis Etienne, while he might appreciate his mom’s support and probably feels the same way, cannot love that she is trashing his teammates. Especially considering that it is the singular teammates that decide if he gets tackled. He might have to take change her password and revoke her social media privileges after this one.
It’s not a great look from Donnette. But it’s also not wrong!
