Travis Hunter is expected to wrap up his final college football season this fall with the Colorado Buffaloes before taking his talents to the next level.

A projected Top 5 pick, he’ll likely hear his name called early in the NFL Draft.

Hunter sat down on the Kickin’ It With Dee podcast to talk about that professional future. During the conversation, he named his preferred destination.

“I want to make an impact on the [Colorado] community,” he said. “They took us in with open arms… My neighbors help me out a lot. Sometimes, I go to away games, and I need somebody to watch my dog. I feel comfortable I can go to my neighbors…

“They watch out for my house. They watch out for everything that’s going on because they know how much I mean to the city, how much I mean to the state.

“I never feel uncomfortable… I wish I could just go to the Broncos to stay in Colorado because so many people have welcomed us.”

The fanbase has made a lasting impact!

That said, he also named a city that isn’t preferred, though his reasoning had little to do with football.

When asked about the possibility of landing in San Francisco, he said, “That’s too far… And you know I like to save my money, too. That price is hot!”

Travis Hunter says he turned down massive NIL money to stick with Deion Sanders, with the NFL being his top priority. He should more than make up for it when he signs that rookie contract – and he wants to keep it in the bank!

At the end of the day, though, the team jersey might not be as important as achieving another personal goal.

Hunter wants to be the first pick!

“I wanna be the first pick. I never dreamed of it until a couple years ago when I knew I had a chance… That’s been my main goal – I don’t care where it is. Just get me there.”

He’ll certainly have a chance to make that dream come true next April, and if the season ended today, that would mean a return home to suit up for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Whichever franchise does ultimately take the chance on Hunter will have to be open to the idea of his playing both sides of the football. He wants to utilize his abilities as both a wide receiver and a cornerback.

He’s proven effective at the college level, but the NFL is a different beast!

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the pro season plays out, and what that means for Travis Hunter’s draft future.
