Travis Kelce sat courtside with Taylor Swift during the Cleveland Cavaliers’ loss to the New York Knicks in the NBA Eastern Conference semifinals. Their appearance proves there are rules for thee but not for me.

He was allowed to drink from a can while sitting on the floor.

The average NBA fan is required to drink from a plastic cup. Not if you are a celebrity!

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift sat courtside.

As you could imagine, it was a very big deal when the biggest pop star in the world showed up to Rocket Arena for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Her soon-to-be husband was born and raised in Westlake, Ohio, approximately 15/20 miles from downtown Cleveland. Travis Kelce grew up as a fan of the Cavaliers. Taylor Swift was adopted into the fanbase by association.

It was perhaps the most “normal” thing we have ever seen her do. She was just chilling.

He was not quite as chill.

However, it was clear that Swift has a deep admiration for Kelce. Just look at how she watches him:

Adorable, right? Perhaps the best moment of the night came during pregame. Kelce and Swift walked past a group of kids. She made him stop in his tracks to acknowledge the young fan.

It was a nonnegotiable to stop for the children.

Love her or hate her, TSwizzle does not mess around when it comes to kids!

As someone who has followed this relationship closely from the beginning, this was different. We saw a side of Swift that I am not so sure we have ever seen before. It was pretty cool.

Garage Beer at an NBA game?!

What was not cool was the hypocritical rules for celebrity fans at Rocket Arena. The Cavaliers at one point welcomed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to the Eastern Conference Finals with a (not so) brief appearance on the jumbotron.

Kelce immediately reached down to his seat and pulled out a 12oz can of Garage Beer— which is co-owned by him and his brother. He proceeded to chug it down.

As far as I can tell, Rocket Arena does not Garage Beer in 12oz cans. Certainly not courtside.

Travis Kelce was allowed to drink from a can!

I get it. Kelce is Kelce. Swift is Swift. But it is yet another example of how rules don’t apply to celebrities.
