In a thrilling opening Week 1 matchup of the 2023 NFL season, the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Indianapolis Colts 31-21.

While the game showcased the talents of two promising young quarterbacks, the post-game interaction between had a heartfelt moment.

The Colts’ fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, rookie Anthony Richardson, made his debut and displayed considerable promise despite the loss.

Richardson endured some pressure throughout the game, taking four sacks while completing 24 of his 37 pass attempts for a total of 223 yards. He managed to two touchdowns and one interception.

On the other side of the field, the Jaguars’ franchise quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, showcased his own skills with an impressive performance. Lawrence completed 24 of his 32 pass attempts, resulting in two touchdowns and one interception.

What truly stood out was Lawrence’s post-game gesture. According to Zak Keefer of The Athletic, Lawrence took a moment to offer some valuable advice to his rookie counterpart.

In a display of sportsmanship and camaraderie, Lawrence told Richardson, “Great game, you made some unbelievable plays… but try and protect yourself. The hits add up in this league, and they’re a little different than in college.”
